The guide

How Arivon works

Everything Arivon does, and exactly what to tap — whether you're buying from local farms or selling from yours.

For shoppers

Find farms near you

See every farm on Arivon, closest first, with whether it is open right now.

  1. 1Open Farms. You can browse without an account.
  2. 2Use All Distances to limit the list to farms within a radius of you.
  3. 3Open a farm to see its produce, prices, opening hours and reviews.
  4. 4Tap Get Directions to open the route in your maps app.

Reserve produce and pick it up

Reserve what you want ahead of time, then collect it at the farm.

  1. 1On a farm's page, tap Add on the items you want.
  2. 2Tap View Cart, choose a pickup day and time, and tap Place Order.
  3. 3Follow your order in My Orders as the farmer confirms it and marks it ready.
  4. 4Collect it at the farm and pay the farmer directly.
Arivon never handles your money: there is no card to enter and no fee added. You pay the farmer the listed price.

Get told when something is back

When an item is out of stock, ask to be told the moment the farmer restocks it.

  1. 1On an out-of-stock item, tap Notify me.
  2. 2The button changes to Waiting.
  3. 3When the farmer restocks it, you get a notification.
An alert fires once and then clears itself, so a farmer adjusting stock through the day never notifies you twice. Tap Notify me again if you want the next restock too.

Follow the farms you like

Keep your farms at the top of the list and hear when they have something worth the trip.

  1. 1Open a farm and tap Follow.
  2. 2Followed farms move to the top of the farm list and carry a Following badge.
  3. 3Use the Following filter on the farm list to see only your farms.
  4. 4Tap the settings icon beside Following to choose what you hear about.
Following is quiet by design. It never sends an instant alert: new produce arrives as one summary at most once a day, nothing is sent at night, and you can switch any of it off for each farm.

Hear from the farmer

Farmers post short updates — a harvest day, a market time — to the people who follow them.

  1. 1Follow a farm.
  2. 2Its updates appear under From the farm, at the top of its page.
  3. 3If you have announcements switched on, new ones arrive as a notification.

Cook it: recipes from the farmer

Farmers share their own recipes for what they grow.

  1. 1On a farm's page, look for the recipe count on a produce photo.
  2. 2Open the item to see its recipes.
  3. 3Each recipe has its own page, so you can share it with anyone.

The weekly summary

One message a week about what's new at the farms you follow, in time to plan the weekend.

  1. 1Follow one or more farms.
  2. 2On Thursday morning, your time, you get a short summary of what they added.
  3. 3A quiet week sends nothing at all.

Use Arivon in your language

Arivon works in English, French and Tamil — including the notifications you receive.

  1. 1Choose your language from the language menu, or in Settings on the apps.
  2. 2Notifications follow the language you chose.

For farmers

Put your farm on Arivon

Create your farm page. It is free, and there is no commission on anything you sell.

  1. 1Sign up and choose Farmer.
  2. 2Add your farm's name, address and a short description.
  3. 3Set your opening hours, so customers know when to come.
  4. 4Add a photo of your farm or stall.

List your produce

Show what you have, at the price you choose.

  1. 1On your farm page, tap Add Produce.
  2. 2Add a name, price, unit and a photo.
  3. 3Mark an item out of stock when it runs out, and back in stock when it returns.
Restocking is worth doing promptly: anyone who tapped Notify me on that item is told the moment you mark it back in stock.

Handle orders

Customers reserve for pickup; you confirm and hand it over.

  1. 1New reservations appear in Farmer Orders.
  2. 2Confirm the order, then mark it ready when it's packed.
  3. 3The customer collects at your farm and pays you directly.

Tell your followers when to come

Post a short update — the strongest reason for someone to make the trip.

  1. 1On your farm page, write your update under From the farm, for example "Picking tomatoes Saturday from 8am".
  2. 2Tap Post update. It appears on your farm page for everyone.
  3. 3Followers who have announcements switched on get it as a notification.
Each follower hears from you at most once a day, and never at night, so your updates stay welcome.

Your QR notice and referral code

Get your own code and a printable notice for your stand, and see who joined because of you.

  1. 1Open Referral Program and tap Enable referral program.
  2. 2Tap Print notice, then print it or save it as a PDF.
  3. 3Put it up at your stand or farm gate. Customers scan it to see your farm.
  4. 4Referral Program shows how many people scanned it, and how many farmers and customers joined with your code.
Your code never changes, so notices you have already printed keep working.

Share recipes

Show people what to do with what you grow — it sells the produce as well as any photo.

  1. 1Open one of your items and tap Add recipe.
  2. 2Write the recipe, with a photo, times and servings.
  3. 3Publish it, and it appears on that item for every shopper.

Questions people ask first

Is Arivon free?

Yes. Browsing and reserving are free for shoppers, and farmers list their farm for free with no commission on anything they sell.

How do I pay?

You pay the farmer directly when you collect your order. Arivon never handles your money, so there is no card to enter and no fee added.

Do I need an account to look around?

No. You can browse every farm and what it has without signing up. An account lets you reserve produce, follow farms and get told when something you want is back.

Do I have to download the app?

No. Arivon works in your browser on any phone or computer. The Android and iPhone apps are handy at the market and for notifications.

Will I get lots of notifications?

No. Following a farm never sends an instant alert, and nothing arrives in the middle of the night. The only instant alert is one you ask for — when an item you are waiting for is back in stock.

I grow food. What does it cost to sell on Arivon?

Nothing. Listing is free and there is no commission. You set your own prices, customers pay you at pickup, and you keep everything you sell.

Which languages does Arivon support?

English, French and Tamil — including the notifications you receive.
